How to Add humor to Your Current Presentations, Easily!

In this brief article, you will learn the “Famous 4 for Humor” techniques using which you can genuinely add humor to your very next presentation. I use these techniques all the time to make my presentations funny….without having to steal jokes from the internet.

      1. Weird: The first technique is to ask yourself “What is weird about being a (your  profession)?” For example, whenever I am coaching sales managers to deliver killer presentations, I ask them: “What is weird about being a sales manager?” They answer something like: “Well, my sales people think I am the boss and my boss thinks that I am the dumbest employee.” BOOM! That’s humor, right there. See how easy it is? So, what weird about your profession?

      2. Hard: The next one is, ask yourself: “What is hard about what my audience members do on a daily basis?”

For example, recently I was speaking to a group of IT professionals and during my talk I said: “I know it’s hard   being an IT professional. Cause no matter how hard you work, your salary remains the same!”

         They laughed like babies.

      3. Scary: What’s scary about (anything)? Talk about your relationships. Talk about your kids (if you have some!) Talk about what’s scary about being you?

For example, when I am talking to women, I say: “It’s really scary to have a girlfriend. Because you never know when she is watching you check out someone else.”

      4. Stupid: What’s stupid about what you do? Say it. What’s stupid about being a motivational speaker is that your own family members won’t ever take you seriously and they will always wonder what is the exact work that you do!

I can use that line anytime I am speaking to aspiring motivational speakers who are wondering how to become a motivational speaker in India.

There you go. “Famous 4 for Humor” techniques. Ask yourself:

What is weird about it?

What is hard about it?

What is scary about it?

What is stupid about it?
